Ford Mustang U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition 2014
2014 Ford Mustang U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Ford has built a one-of-a-kind 2014 Mustang GT “U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition,” which will be auctioned for charity at the Gathering of Eagles event on August 1, 2013. The proceeds of the sale will go to benefit the EAA Young Eagles organization, which Ford has raised nearly $2 million for in recent years. The EAA Young Eagles program has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6-million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators, and innovators. As for the unique Mustang GT, it’ll boast a VIN of 0001 making it one-of-a-kind and has been modified with a creative connection to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. On the exterior, the Mustang has been painted white with red and blue accents that tie it to the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcon. Body modifications include a wide body conversion, and a handcrafted and painted “belly pan” that emulates the F-16 Thunderbird. The Mustang GT will roll on custom 22-inch Forgiato wheels. On the inside, the American automaker has outfitted the custom Mustang GT with a modified navigation screen, instrument cluster, and rear-seat delete while the car’s Recaro seats have been embroidered with Thunderbirds elements. Unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft’s silhouette finish off the interior modifications. Plenty of performance modifications include a Ford Racing supercharger, suspension handling pack, and Brembo brakes. “The dedication and excellence displayed by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds are qualities we also celebrate at Ford,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. “With this year’s beautiful U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, we’ve captured the recognizable symbols of their stature and paired it with the innovation our Ford design and engineering teams build into all of our products.”
