Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre BMW four-cylinder engine mounted midship, the little roadster serves up a healthy 181 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The modest muscle gets to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Consider our interest piqued. PGO Automobiles says the new model tips the scales at a scant 998 kilograms (2,200 pounds) and features a theoretical top speed of 225 km/h (140 miles per hour). That's plenty fast enough to get you in trouble or get you dead. Fortunately, engineers also managed to bolster the car's rigidity by 15 per cent and a new MacPhereson strut setup front and rear helps the car handle the twisties with a bit more composure than previous efforts from the automaker. As you may recollect, PGO Automobiles got its start manufacturing kit cars modeled after the Porsche 356. Its clear the company's designers have held on to some of their favourite elements from that car. Rounded fenders front and rear as well as familiar-looking headlights all harken back to the little German droptop, but elements like the smallish windshield and variety of air inlets clearly identify the car as French. We dig it.

2013 Caterham 620R Revealed Ahead of Goodwood Debut

Caterham has revealed its 2013 620R, which will make its official public debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The 620R will be replacing the British automaker’s R500 and is powered by a 2.0-liter, Duratec four-cylinder engine sourced from Ford. It’s the same supercharged powerplant that Caterham used in its R400 and R500 models, but has been tuned to 311 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque in this iteration.

“The Seven 620R is an extreme piece of kit,” said Caterham Cars CEO Graham Macdonald. “We know there is demand for cars that rewrite the rules of performance and, if you’re brave enough to take it on, the 620R will be an enormously rewarding, fun car to pilot.”

That means the 620R is the most powerful Caterham road production vehicle yet, and with it weighing in at under a scant 1,200 pounds, it’ll bullet its way to 60 mph in just 2.79 seconds. Aerodynamic enhancements has been implemented on the 620R’s design with its nose cone reshaped to optimize airflow around the car for cooling purposes. The interior also receives carbon fiber panels, a Q/R steering wheel, while it’ll roll on 13-inch wheels.

Pricing is around $75,000 (£49,995) and the 620R will go on sale later this year. Later on, an “S” variant will be added to the lineup that according to the automaker, “harnesses all the power of the original but offers a little more accessibility.”

If the 620R is too rich for your blood, Caterham is working on an entry-level Seven sports car that will be priced for under $25,800 (£17,000).

Limited edition GTA Spano Supercar 2013

Spanish supercar manufacturer GTA Motor, now known as Spania GTA, has a passion for the Geneva Motor Show. In 2011, the firm displayed its original Spano supercar concept, and this was followed up by the debut of the production-ready version at the Geneva show in 2012. For the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which takes place this week, Spania GTA rolled out a new limited edition Spano, which it calls the GTA Spano. Only 99 examples will be built, assuming Spania GTA finds enough buyers, and all of them will come with a 900-horsepower rating. That’s slightly more than the regular Spano’s 840-horsepower output. Spania GTA says owners can expect a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 217 mph. The new limited edition model also showcases some minor tweaks made to the Spano since its reveal last year, with the car having received a new engine cover and a much improved interior. All Spano supercars are built around a lightweight chassis composed of carbon fiber, titanium and Kevlar. They draw their power from a mid-mounted, 8.3-liter V-10 engine, and drive goes to the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential gearbox. With a curb weight of just under 3,000 pounds, the Spano should certainly be an exciting drive, though we can’t confirm that yet. Note, Spania GTA is already working on additional Spano variants.
